• House Mice (Mus Musculus)
  House mice – the most common in Belgium – are dusty gray with a cream-colored belly. Their fur color ranges from light brown to dark gray. House mice have four legs and a round body shape. Their snouts are pointed, and their ears are large with some hair. House mice measure between 6 to 10 centimeters long. Their tails range from 7 to 10 centimeters in length. Mice have twelve molars and four incisors; while the molars stop growing in adulthood, the incisors continuously develop.
• Brown Rats (Rattus Norvegicus)
  The brown rat – also known as the sewer rat – is the most common in Belgium. It is a moderately large, robust rodent that is grayish or brownish with coarse fur and a long scaly tail with sparse hair. It has a rounded body shape and four legs. The tail, measuring 15 to 20 cm, is shorter than the combined length of the head and body, which ranges from 17 to 23 cm. The underparts and toes are grayish to whitish. Rats also have twelve molars and four incisors; while the molars stop growing in adulthood, the incisors never stop developing.
• Black Rats (Rattus Rattus)
  The black rat has a color ranging from light brown to black. It has a relatively lighter underside compared to the rest of its body. An adult black rat typically measures between 13 to 18 cm, with a tail length ranging from 15 to 22 cm. Its weight varies from 75 to 230 g. It is relatively smaller than a brown rat and has much denser fur.

Rats and mice are incredibly prolific breeders. An adult female rat can give birth to over 30 offspring, while an adult mouse can easily exceed 100.
